Matt Deatherage, an on-target critic of the mass media, [wrote](http://www.hbo.com/billmaher/episode/2006_08_25_ep79.html):
>Just like a bully hits you because he knows you’re too scared to hit him back, Hitchens and his dishonest troupe of discredited war backers keep lying because they know their opposition is too scared to call them on it. When that changes – and I don’t mean stuff like “Well, he’s incorrect” or “that’s not the truth,” but “you’re lying and you know you’re lying” – the entire conservative combat commentariat will collapse.
That’s an excerpt from a longish post about how Matt thinks many Conservatives lie about the war in Iraq and other things.
Now, I respect Matt a lot and, although I disagree with most of his politics, I read his stuff all the time. He is thoughtful, thorough and articluate. But, I have to break my don’t-post-about-politics rule to ask: Matt, are you suggesting that it is only Conservatives who manipulate the truth in this matter?
I don’t want to argue about it, but surely you don’t mean that all Conservatives lie. Some do. But many don’t. And, similarly, some Liberal pundits lie – not all of them! – with startling regularity. Of course, I could go through the trouble of listing examples, but the point really is that I don’t have to, do I?
I’d have even more respect for your post if it was unbiased (or, should I say, “fair and balanced”?).
Also, what’s up with not allowing comments? Or did I miss something?
